A long-running hair salon in Macclesfield has had a soft relaunch, with new improvements.

Heritage Hair Salon, on Charlotte Street, has relocated upstairs.

The previous owner has hung up their scissors, and one of their employees has stepped up to take the hot seat (or should we say barbers chair?)

Macclesfield resident Nerys Jones has took over the business.

"I've been working as a hairdresser in Macclesfield for 29 years, and I have been a hairdresser since I left school," said Nerys.

"I worked with Anthony [Harle] the previous owner here for 12 years, so it was kind of natural for me to take over.

"Heritage has been going for 13 years, I wanted to keep the name the same so people know we are still here."

Nerys will be joined by new recruit Matt Amison.

The new era of Heritage also comes with a new studio. Whilst they are still located at 38 Charlotte Street, they have moved upstairs, but you still enter at the ground floor level where the previous iteration of Heritage was located.

"We offer the same excellent service, just up a flight of stairs," said Nerys.

"We have some lovely clients who have been with us for years, and it is nice for Matt to join us."

In the future, they would like to have more stylists join them as there is room for one more.

"I have been a hairdresser for 17 years," said Matt.

"I lived abroad for ten years and owned salons in Thailand and Malaysia.

"I'm from Stoke-on-Trent originally and now I live in Macc."

Heritage benefits from parking right outside, and it is free in the evenings, which on some nights Heritage can be booked for.

"We are now open later," added Nerys.

"As well as experience, cutting is one of my strengths, I've had clients for 29 years who are still coming to me. Being able to establish relationships with my clients is my favourite part about the job."

They can cut children's hair, and are LGBTQ+ friendly as well.

"My personality is one of my strongpoints," explained Matt.

"I am a very good hairdresser all-around. I love cutting, but I specialise in colouring as well."

They use vegan-friendly, cruelty-free hair products. Plus, you can pay with cash as well as card, and there is complimentary brews to enjoy on-site.

"Thank to you our clients for our continued custom, and we look forward to welcoming new ones," said Nerys.

You can show your support to Heritage by giving them a follow on Facebook.

"I like Macclesfield as it is a friendly community", said Matt.

"As a whole, it has a lot going for it. There are a lot of businesses here that aren't just chains, there are a lot of small independent businesses which create a nice vibe."

Previous owner Anthony Harle said: "I want to thank my clients for their support of the years."

Heritage Hair Salon's new opening hours are as follows:

9am to 5pm Tuesday (with an opportunity for late night bookings until 8)

9am to 5pm Wednesday.

9am to 9pm on a Thursday

9am to 6pm on a Friday

9am to 3pm on a Saturday
