New pizzeria Tommy's opens on Macclesfield's Buxton Road

A new pizzeria has opened in Macclesfield today.

Tommy's of 207 Buxton Road opened their doors at 3pm.

Boasting 30cm wide pizzas, three salads and five puddings. It is a small but mighty menu for what aims to be the friendly neighbourhood Italian.

Buxton Road faces a lack of takeaways and only pubs do food offerings, so it will fill a gap in the market for nearby residents. Especially as the restaurant is both dine-in and takeaway.

The eight pizzas on the menu includes Nepolitan salami, along with a tomato and hummus pizza for vegans.

Anchovy lovers will rejoice at the Napolitana, which also contains top quality tomatoes, cheese and capers.

And you can settle the pineapple on pizza debate with family and friends thanks to their ham and pineapple pizza with jalapeño jam.

Chef and business owner Tom Higgins can't wait to welcome Macclesfield in.

"We're delighted to be open," he said.

"Since we last spoke to Nub News about our opening, we've added a few more things to what we do.

"As well as using high quality, low carbon ingredients, we have a selection of beers from R&Gs in Macclesfield.

"We'll have a daily special pizza which will include things like goats cheese and red onion and chutney pizzas.

Their mushroom and truffle pizza comprises three cheeses. They are Fiore di latte, buffalo mozzarella and grated parmesan. It also comes with white truffle oil, delicious mushrooms and thyme (right). (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)

"We have authentic Italian bar snacks like biscotti and olives as well.

"We plan to make and serve our own limoncello in the near future too.

"And the best part is you don't have to book, just come when you want, enjoy some freshly-made pizza and see it made right in front of you."

As well as supporting local businesses through what they stock, like R&Gs and a Poynton brewery on tap, Tommy's is also doing their bit for charity.

The new place to eat is also a public supporter of the 'SAVE DANES MOSS' campaign. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)

50p from each sale of their rosemary garlic fingers (pictured above) will go to the charity Surfers Against Sewage.

Tommy's will be open on Wednesday and Thursday from 3pm to 10pm.

At weekends, it will be Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 10pm.
