There's one less empty shop in Macclesfield, as a new wellness business is opening in the town.

Sala The Royal Thai Spa, of 74 Mill Lane, will open their doors for the first time this weekend.

It is good news for our local economy, as Sala is located inside a premises vacant for three years.

As well as offering deep tissue massages, body scrubs and foot massages for everyone, Sala also has a unique selling point which the owner believes is the only one to offer it in the local area.

Herbs from turmeric to butterfly pea will be used in treatments.

Ladapa Simma, who has been a Macclesfield resident for the past three years, is the woman behind the new venture.

"Sala The Royal Thai Spa has a unique spa menu offering ultimate relaxation," said Ladapa.

"We offer five different treatments, starting from £40.

"As well as these services that are available to everyone, we have a special service just for mums who have recently given birth.

Ladapa, who has previously worked as a masseuse in Macclesfield, has now started her own business.

"Yu-Fai is a traditional Thai post-childbirth care that helps mums recover from giving birth.

"The female body goes through a lot of stress during pregnancy and childbirth. Yu-Fai treatment serves as a way for your body and mind to relax after all that hard work."

While not a replacement for medical treatment, Ladapa herself knows how yu-fai can help, as she went through a turbulent birth a few years ago following the birth of her second child.

Yu-fai involves heat, herbs and tranquility to allow the body to recover post-childbirth.

"We have two different types of Yu-fai postnatal treatment one for natural birth and one for those who have had a c-section", explained Ladapa.

"For natural birth, they can have this treatment seven days after they give birth.

"For the c-section, I recommend to start the treatment a month late.

"The programmes last five weeks, but there is no obligation, you can try out and pay the first one and see if it is for you.

"When I gave birth with my second boy, it was really painful from the c-section.

"It made my stay in bed for weeks, and I was walking like an old lady.

"Yu-fai confinement is popular across Asia, it is part of the culture. It is a traditional Thai post-childbirth care that serves as a way for your mind and body to relax after all that hard work.

"Most mums feel the different as soon as they feel the treatment. The stomach, bottom, back, and hip feel better, it has not stopped but the swelling as reduced. That is why I offer five sessions."

With Sala's other, non-postnatal treatments, anyone is welcome to. These include foot massages from £45 and deep tissue massage from £50.

There is an opening offer for 50% discount for all treatments from October 14 until October 31.

"I am excited to open in Macclesfield," concluded Ladapa.

"Let's take a deep breath, switch off, forget the phone and all the hustle of everyday life. It's time to relax."
