New Thai street food eatery The Laab opens in Macclesfield
A new Asian eatery has opened in town, with a traditional twist on the Thai formula.
The Laab Street Food and Bar, of food 6a Market Place, has opened in Macclesfield.
Their menu focuses on the north-east of Thailand, which is the street food capital of the country.
It is where owner Kipsy Day is from.
"It has always been a dream", she said.
"Street food is always about the flavour, and fresh ingredients.
"I want to represent the taste from my hometown, here in Macclesfield."
The menu boasts 66 dishes, from Thai soups, curries, to fried favourites.
The Laab is big on cocktails, and also has Thai Singha beer on draft.
"The word 'laab' can be meant two days," explained Kipsy.
"It can mean lucky, and laab is also warm dishes that you always bring out when you have visitors.
"We are offering it as something new in Macclesfield for people to try."
Kipsy already runs another Macclesfield business just around the corner, called Naga Beauty and Spa.
Now, taking on a second business, she will offer a discount for customers of both spa, and street food bar.
When pressed for the secrets of running two independent businesses in Macclesfield, Kipsy had this to say:
"Love," she said.
"If you are passionate to do something, then it comes from the inside.
"I am lucky as I have a lot of good friends around me [and Kipsy's sister is in the kitchen too].
"A massive thank you for giving us a chance, it has always been a dream to do this, and we do it from our heart.
"Thank you so much for your support. Small businesses will survive from your support."
The restaurant is located where Ocha (also a Thai place) used to be.
You can order directly through their website, via JustEat, or via 01625 511526.
