Peter Hook is to release Joy Division tracks with an orchestral twist - and the first track from the upcoming EP can be listened to above.

The Salford bassist of Joy Division, which contained two bandmates from Macclesfield including songwriter Ian Curtis, will release the Dreams EP next month.

It will precede Peter Hook's next gig in Macclesfield, headlining Macclesfield in October Festival, which will be held at Christ Church on Bridge Street.

The Dreams EP comprises four tracks are all co-wrote by Hook and his ex-bandmates, which include the late Ian Curtis, and Rainow resident Stephen Morris.

But the 40-year-old tunes will be performed with classical music instruments to compliment songs like their greatest hit Love Will Tear Us Apart.

Hook (63), has performed numerous charity gigs at the Macclesfield Grade-II* church to raise money for The Epilepsy Society and The Christie.

Dreams will be his first physical release of recorded music in three years.

"Bringing together vocalists, musicians and artists from the show, Peter Hook & guests are to release the Joy Division Orchestrated 'Dreams' EP digitally & on streaming services on 1st October 2021," said a statement.

"Featuring four tracks - New Dawn Fades, Love Will Tear Us Apart (Piano Version), Atmosphere and A Means To An End alongside bonus mixes - the EP is the first collection of orchestrated versions from the acclaimed production.

"The EP previews the October 2022 live tour of Joy Division Orchestrated, which will come to the Manchester Apollo in 2022."

Tickets are here.
