A man has been left in hospital following an attack in Macclesfield.

Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses and those with dashcam footage to come forward following reports of assault and sexual assault.

Officers received a call at 1.07am on Tuesday, August 11, reporting that a man had been assaulted and sexually assaulted in the Churchill Way area of town.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he remains as of 6pm on Wednesday, August 12.

Detective Inspector Claire Miles said: "An investigation is currently ongoing, and we would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious or relevant in the area before or after it is believed to have occurred.

"We would also ask anyone who was driving in Macclesfield town centre between 10.40pm on Monday, August 10, and 1.10am on Tuesday, August 11, to please check their dashcam footage to see if anything relevant has been captured.

"This includes near to the Churchill Way and Sunderland Street area.

"Anyone with any concerns, or to report any information, should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or report online, quoting IML-2393346."
