Officers are trying to identify a woman found in a 'confused state' in Macclesfield.

Cheshire Police have released an image of a woman, believed to be in her 80s, who was found my a member of the public in the Mill Street area shortly after 2.10pm on Wednesday, October 15.

Despite their best efforts, officers have been unable to establish her identity and are now appealing for help from the public.

Inspector Paul Blackburn said: "Firstly, I'd like to reassure residents that the woman is currently safe and well and currently being looked after by the fantastic staff at Macclesfield Hospital.

"However, we're keen to get her back home to her family, and I would ask anyone who believes they know her identity to get in touch.

"If you think you know who she is call us on 101, or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, quoting IML 2195369."

*UPDATE*

Cheshire Police have confirmed that the woman has now been identified.
