Pub on main road into Macclesfield goes up for sale following closure
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 14th May 2026
A pub on the outskirts of Macclesfield has hit the market.
The Butley Ash on London Road has appeared for sale on the property website Rightmove.
This comes just weeks after national pub chain Greene King confirmed its closure, along with the Rising Sun on Congleton Road.
A spokesperson said at the time: "Following a period of team member consultation, we can confirm that the Butley Ash and Rising Sun have now closed.
"We are grateful to everyone who has supported us over the years, and we look forward to welcoming them into our other pubs in the surrounding area soon."

The Butley Ash has a guide price of £950,000 and is described as having a spacious 'olde-worlde' style layout.
"A traditional detached public house of traditional style with painted rendered elevations beneath a pitched roof," the listing reads.
"The ground floor provides a welcoming bar area with good floor-to-ceiling height, offering approximately 65 internal covers.
"A commercial kitchen lies to the rear of the bar area in addition to a set of customer W.C's and associated general ancillary storage areas."
The sale also includes a single storey extension, a detached single garage, a car park with space for 45 vehicles and a beer garden, as well as an additonal unused field.
