A children's centre has new owners.

Hurdsfield Primary School has officially taken ownership of Hurdsfield Children's Centre, located on the school site.

The development represents a major step in the school's mission to expand its early years provision for children aged two to four.

Headteacher, Richard Jervis, said: "We are thrilled to take ownership of the Children's Centre and use this opportunity to strengthen our early years provision.

"This is an exciting time for our school, as we are now in a position to create an integrated pathway for children, from their very first steps into education through to their end of primary education.

"Our goal is to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that helps all children thrive in their earliest years, setting them up for success as they progress in their educational journey."

Over the years, Hurdsfield Children's Centre has been a hub for different agencies, including East Cheshire NHS Trust's antenatal service.

Now, under the leadership of Hurdsfield Primary School, the centre will see its offerings grow, with an increased focus on providing for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) children.

The Children's Centre will continue to provide services such as early education, care, and family support, in one half of the existing building.

Meanwhile, the other half will become the enhanced nursery provision.

The integration of the Children's Centre with the primary school will create a more unified approach to early years education, ensuring that children experience a smooth transition from nursery and early education into reception and beyond.

"We are very excited about the potential that this new ownership brings,' said Andrea Powell, early years lead.

"Having the additional space to expand our current early years provision further can only benefit our local community more.

"We will be offering two-year-old places soon and already have a waiting list of families keen to access this."
