Poundland has confirmed their south Macclesfield store is to close down.

Poundland Pep&Co, of the Lyme Green Retail Park, is to shut down later this month.

The store, off Brunel Road, is to close down on August 23.

Macclesfield Nub News contacted the discount retailer for comment.

"The store is sadly due to close on August 23," said a Poundland spokesperson.

"We've been unable to secure a lease agreement to allow the store to keep trading.

"We know that's disappointing for customers and colleagues alike and we will do everything we can to look after colleagues.

"Thank you to our customers in Macclesfield for their support."

Poundland had took over the site from Poundstretcher, over half-a-decade ago.

Unverified rumours suggest a furniture store could move in, now that Poundland is set to close. Macclesfield Nub News will seek to verify this.

Two years ago, Macclesfield had two Poundland stores, but after the closure of the Mill Street store in January 2023 and this impending closure, Macclesfield's nearest Poundland will now be in Stockport (where a new store has just opened).
