Meet the woman behind Macclesfield dance school with state-of-the-art studio

Meet the woman behind the 'highest quality' dance studio in the area.
Since launching in 2009, Sylk Dance Academy has cemented itself as one of the top dance schools around, with their students performing everywhere from the British Grand Prix to the latest series of a hit CBBC show.
Pulling the strings is Macclesfield born-and-bred Amy Myers, who has big plans for 2025.
She said: "This year is all about growth for me personally and for the dance school.
"I am keen to challenge myself in new areas, such as judging at competitions and doing more for the young people in our community.
"Alongside my personal growth, I hope to see the dance school continue to flourish and reach our target of 400 students!"

Amy grew up in Upton Priory and attended Fallibroome Academy, where she got her first taste of teaching, supporting some of the younger students.
She went on to study dance and marketing at Liverpool Hope University with the dream of teaching GCSE and A-Level dance at schools.
However, she came to realise she was looking for a job which offered 'more freedom'.
"Although I loved the idea of teaching others, after graduating, I decided that I didn't want to be restricted to a school curriculum and would prefer to do something which offered me more freedom," Amy said.
"I think my main passion is people and helping others to grow and build confidence.
"Before establishing the studio, I did voluntary youth work and mentoring, and I still love to give back to the community via the dance school."

Sylk started out life at the Broken Cross Club in 2009.
Initially a part-time venture, it soon became a full-time business for Amy.
She has brought in six other teachers to help manage the workload, including Rikki Prince, who has a World Championship title in breakdance.
In 2016, they finally moved into their own studio in the town centre where they continued to expand, offering over 40 classes per week covering everything from street and contemporary to cheerleading and gymnastics.
They have since moved again and can now be found at their state-of-the-art studio on Brook Street, complete with a professional dance floor, large windows, high ceilings for the cheerleaders and enough space to house all the gymnastics equipment and air track.

"The transformation has cost a small fortune and our members have been so supportive by putting on fundraisers and contributing where they can to the renovations," Amy said.
"There is always more to do, but what we have at Sylk is the highest-quality dance studio in the area and I am so proud to be able to offer this to our students."
She added: "Over the years our timetable has grown with the teachers who have come on board and their expertise.
"We have students who have gone on to become dance teachers themselves or who are training to become professional dancers for TV and Commercials.
"My goal has always been to offer as many opportunities as possible to our students no matter what their future goals are."
