Local runners helped raise thousands for charity.

The Rossendale Trust is celebrating after receiving a cheque for £2,185.25 from the Rundamentalist Run Club.

The Macclesfield-based club selected the charity as its chosen cause last year, with members taking on a series of demanding physical challenges to raise funds.

These included iconic endurance events such as the London and Manchester Marathons, alongside additional fundraising activities, including a popular summer social event organised by the club.

Sue Heaven, head of PR and fundraising at the Rossendale Trust, said: "We are extremely grateful to Matt and all the members of the Rundamentalist Run Club who have helped raise funds for the Trust over the past year.

"They really have gone the extra mile.

"Their support helps us continue providing vital services for adults with learning disabilities, enabling people to live more independent and fulfilling lives."

Based at the new Deadly Dozen gym in Macclesfield, the Rundamentalist Run Club prides itself on building an inclusive, supportive running community that encourages members to challenge themselves while giving back locally.

Owner and head coach Matt Rigby pushed his own limits by competing in Tough Mudder Holy Grail event - one of the most gruelling obstacle races, testing competitors' strength, stamina and resilience over extreme conditions.

He said: "At the Rundamentalist Run Club, we're always encouraging our members to challenge themselves — and supporting the Rossendale Trust gave us an even bigger reason to keep pushing.

"Knowing our miles were helping a local charity that changes lives gave us all huge motivation."

The Rossendale Trust is keen to hear from local businesses and corporate partners who would like to get involved through staff fundraising challenges, sponsorship opportunities or long-term partnerships.
