Former Macclesfield Nub News editor prepares to take on London Marathon for the Rossendale Trust
By The Editor 22nd Mar 2026
The former editor of Macclesfield Nub News is preparing to take on the TCS London Marathon.
Alex Greensmith will join thousands of other runners on the streets of the capital on Sunday, April 26.
In doing so, he will raise vital funds for the Rossendale Trust, a charity that provides supported living care to adults with learning and physical disabilities.
Alex said: "Taking on the London Marathon for Rossendale Trust is a real personal challenge, but also a chance to give something back to a cause that makes such a meaningful difference to people's lives.
"I'm proud to be running in support of the Trust — and to reconnect with the community in a new way.""
Also taking part in the London Marathon for the Rossendale Trust are Harry Whitehead, Ella Barnard and Toby Eyre, who has been running marathons in support of the charity for over 20 years.
Harry said: "Running the marathon for Rossendale means it is much bigger than a personal challenge. On the hard days, remembering who I'm running for and the difference the Trust makes keeps me motivated."
Ella added: "Running for Rossendale Trust means something very personal to me. Being able to run in support of the Trust gives this challenge a deeper purpose and makes every step feel worthwhile."

Earlier in the month, staff from the Rossendale trust will lace up for the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
Trish Fenn, Claire Mannion, Susanne Tidswell and Heather Morley will be tackling the 13.1-mile route through central London, passing some of the city's most iconic landmarks, on Sunday, April 12.
The team has been training hard in the lead-up to the event, balancing their preparation alongside their roles supporting people with learning disabilities across the Trust.
The group is running to raise funds that will directly support Rossendale Trust's work in providing supported living, day activities and work placements for adults with learning disabilities.
Donations can be made to the Trust's Just Giving Page - https://www.justgiving.com/charity/rossendale-trust.
