Macclesfield vets have shared the results of an 'unusual' operation.
Wright and Morten Vets recently carried out keyhole spays on two little pigs, a procedure they say is 'rarely' carried out in practice.
They team at the Lyme Green veterinary hospital have been carrying out laparoscopic spaying of dogs for many years, so when the WM Farm Vets department asked if they could help, small animal clinical director Pete Andrew was happy to accept the challenge.
He said: "It was the first time I have carried out a keyhole spay on a pig.
"Many things, from the anaesthetic to the surgical anatomy, were different compared to dog!
"However, with the help of the assembled team, everything went smoothly."

The pigs in question are sisters who are used for helping children with special educational needs.
It was a collaborative effort – Vicki Rhodes from WM Farm Vets orchestrated the plan and was able to bring in a specialist anaesthesia team from the University of Nottingham Vet School.
Meanwhile, the team at Wright and Morten's Macclesfield hospital helped provide care on the day, with the support of students from Nottingham University Vet School.
Vet Pete, who carried out the surgeries, added: "We're very grateful especially to the Nottingham University team who carried out the anaesthetics".
