Exciting plans lie in store for Macclesfield's new one-stop convenience shop.

Mini Pound+ Shop has been constantly evolving since opening its doors at the start of May.

Inside you will find a huge variety of essential items as well as many items that can't be found elsewhere in Macclesfield, including halal meats, spices and fresh fruit and vegetables.

Owner Waheed Farooqi Zargar said: "For us, the main thing was to create a business which is a positive contribution to the community and solves a need in society.

"We have some items that aren't available anywhere else in town. Things that maybe middle eastern people, south Asian people, or just locals want that aren't available in the supermarkets.

"For instance, I have been living in Macclesfield for three years and there has never been a halal shop.

"Halal meat was something that was missing from this town and people were having to travel to Manchester and buy in bulk.

"As a result, we are getting customers visit who have come from Buxton, Bollington and Congleton - places where halal meats are not available."

At present, Mini Pound+ Shop, on Queen Victoria Street, sell frozen halal meats, which they bring in pre-cut and packaged from Manchester.

With this having gone down well, they are planning to set up their own cold room where they can store fresh produce.

Waheed says they are also looking to start selling freshly baked bread.

Further down the line, he would like to open a second store, with one focusing on food and the other selling DIY, kitchen utensils, toiletries and other miscellaneous products.

At the heart of all of Waheed's decisions is a desire to satisfy his customers.

He said: "We are very happy with the response we have had so far.

"We ask all our customers for feedback and take notes of their recommendations and suggestions.

"We are pleased to have added another welcoming business to Macclesfield town centre, which has so many nice places to visit."
