A Macclesfield car dealership has achieved its goal of raising £2,000 for East Cheshire Hospice.

The fundraising scheme, launched in October, saw Chrome Motors donate £100 for every car they bought locally.

Managing director Danny Towns couldn't be happier with how things went.

The 49-year-old said: "We'd like to thank the people of Macclesfield for engaging with us in this way.

"Unfortunately, sadly, cancer touches most families, and supporting the hospice felt like the right thing for us to do.

"We understand how expensive it is per day to open the hospice."

East Cheshire Hospice receives around 21% of its funding from the government and needs to fundraise £9,362 on top of this every single day.

"Support from local businesses like Chrome Motors is a huge help and essential for us to keep our doors open and our vital services free and available to those that need them," said Luke Brightmore, marketing and communications manager for the hospice.

East Cheshire Hospice corporate fundraiser Luke Oldham added: "We are hoping to keep the partnership going as long as possible."

Next year, Chrome Motors is aiming to raise £5,000 for East Cheshire Hospice through the car-buying fundraising scheme.

Danny said: "Every one of these transactions has been based on people in Macclesfield specifically coming in here and choosing to part-exchange with us."

The dealership is also looking to support the hospice in other ways, such as the annual Christmas Tree Collection.
