East Cheshire Hospice appeals for information after window smashed
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 13th Jul 2026
A charity is appealing for information following a potential act of vandalism.
Staff at East Cheshire Hospice arrived to work on Monday morning, July 13, to find that a window had been smashed.
To make matters worse, the window was part of the newly rebuilt Sunflower Living Well Centre.
Now, the hospice is urging anyone who may have information about what happened to come forward.
Chief executive Karyn Johnston said: "We were devastated to discover this damage, particularly as it has occurred in a newly renovated area of the hospice that our community has worked so hard to support.
"As a charity, we receive just 21% of our funding from the government, with the remaining 79% raised through the incredible generosity of local people, businesses and supporters.
"It is therefore especially upsetting that money intended to fund vital patient care and support for local families will now have to be diverted to repair this damage.
"East Cheshire Hospice is a place of comfort, compassion and dignity for people facing the most difficult times in their lives.
"We would urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and contact the police."

*UPDATE 12:30 13/07/2026*
East Cheshire Hospice have confirmed that the person responsible has now come forward.
