A pole fitness studio is encouraging kids to try something different this summer.

Cosmic Aerial Arts in Macclesfield are running kids' classes throughout the school holidays, providing a great way for youngsters to burn off some energy.

The studio's owner, Kiera Leigh, realises that some parents may be alarmed when they hear the words 'pole fitness' and 'aerial hoop' and think that these activities are not child-friendly.

"I think that misconception is one of the most important things we get to challenge at Cosmic!" she said.

"Pole fitness as a discipline is rooted in strength, coordination and body awareness.

"It's essentially a gymnastics apparatus, and children take to it incredibly naturally.

"Our kids' classes focus on building those physical foundations in a way that's fun, age-appropriate and confidence-boosting.

"Parents are often amazed at how quickly their children develop strength, skills and confidence they didn't even know they had.

"Once they see it in action, any hesitation disappears pretty quickly!"

Cosmic Juniors sessions, for children aged five to 12, run at 4pm on Fridays and 3.30pm on Saturdays.

There is a separate Cosmic Teens class which runs every Saturday at 4.30pm.

Kiera added: "It's one of those rare activities that genuinely doesn't feel like exercise!

"Kids are so focused on learning a new skill and having fun that the strength and fitness side of things just comes naturally.

"Aerial builds incredible whole-body functional strength, improves coordination and flexibility, and does wonders for confidence and self-belief.

"In our Cosmic Juniors and Cosmic Teens classes, we also mix in some general acrobatics, so there's huge variety and something to keep every child engaged.

"It's a brilliant alternative for kids who maybe don't connect with traditional team sports, or who are just looking for something a little different and exciting to try over the summer."

Don't just take Kiera's word for it.

One parent said: "My daughter absolutely loves the Cosmic Junior classes. The sessions are always fun and the environment is safe, welcoming, and incredibly encouraging, making it easy for children to feel comfortable and give things a go.

"The coaches are so supportive, patient, and genuinely focus on building the children up, celebrating their progress and helping them believe in themselves. It's been wonderful to see the positive impact the classes have had, and I would highly recommend them to any parent looking for a fun and uplifting activity for their children."

Another said: "We've loved being part of the Cosmic community - my son has learned so many techniques, improved his fitness and made loads of new friends. Cosmic is a really positive environment for him for so many reasons."

A third added: "I would highly recommend Cosmic Juniors to any family looking for a fun, supportive and engaging activity for their children. It's so much more than a circus class - it's a place where children can grow in strength, confidence and self-esteem while having an amazing time."
