The sun is shining and another weekend is upon us.

Thankfully there is plenty going on in and around Macclesfield to make the most of the fine weather.

Thursday (15/05)

Starlight Walk

East Cheshire Hospice's Starlight Walk is back.

Taking place at Capesthorne Hall, friends and family are invited to come together for a walk in memory of lost loved ones.

There will be atmospheric lighting along the 2.5km route, as well as fire pits and points of interest for participants to engage with.

Poetry Pandemonium

Poetry Pandemonium returns to Mash and promises to be 'bigger and better than ever'..

Three award-winning guest poets will take to the stage, joining regular host, Mark the Poet.

There will also be open mic spots available for anyone who fancies getting up and having a go. 

The event starts at 8.30pm, with entry on the door priced at £5.

Friday (16/05)

Music@Mike's

This week's lunchtime concert at St Michael's in Market Place is on Friday at 1.15pm.

It will feature the Cheshire Chamber Collective String Quartet performing music 'Inspired by America', including some by Gershwin and other less well-known composers including Terry Riley and Charles Griffes.

Entry is free, with donations to East Cheshire Hospice and St Michael's welcomed.

B's Memory Cafe

Belong Macclesfield is hosting B's Memory Cafe.

Hosted by admiral Nurse, Caroline Clifton, the session offers a warm and welcoming space where families, friends and carers of people living with dementia can come together over a cuppa and cake.

Saturday(17/05)

Coffee Morning & Live Music

Tytherington Family Worship Church is hosting a coffee morning in aid of Mountain Rescue.

Expect tea, coffee and cake as well as stalls selling books, jigsaws, gifts, crafts and greetings cards.

Elsewhere, Macclesfield United Reformed Church is hosting The Caravanettes and Bollington Brass Band.

Alternatively, head over to St Michaels for a concert by Macclesfield Symphony Orchestra.

Conducted by Anthony Houghton, they will be performing Dvorak Symphony No. 8.

Bikeathon

Just Drop In's Macclesfield Bikeathon is here.

This popular annual fundraiser helps support the charity's counselling services, wellbeing services and the support they offer to parents and carers.

There are three routes (12 miles, 30 miles and 60 miles) - all of which start from Macclesfield Town Hall.

Town Council's Birthday

Macclesfield Town Council turns 10 this Saturday, May 17.

Expect all the classic birthday party elements, including cake, crafts, games and a disco.

Communications officer Abi Sherratt said: "We want to take this opportunity to show the people of the town what we have accomplished over the last 10 years.

"It will be a fun day, mixed with history, talks and more."

Bollington Wine Fair

Knowles Green, the deli on Wellington Road, have handpicked more than 60 wines for this year's Bollington Wine Festival.

A number of special guests are due in attendance, including Great British Bake Off finalist Dan Hunter, who will be hosting a pizza pop-up.

There will also be a special discount on wines as well as a chance to win a prize for those who purchase a ticket.

Macclesfield Tennis Club Open Day

Macclesfield Tennis Club are hosting an open day this weekend.

There will be free coaching and pickleball taster sessions as well as a BBQ, a bar and Canalside radio providing the sounds.

The event runs from 11am to 3pm.

The Indomitable Charles Roe

Christ Church are putting on this special event to mark their 250th anniversary year.

Dorothy Bentley-Smith, local historian and author of 'A Georgian Gent: The Life & Times of Charles Roe' will be delivering a talk on 'The Indomitable Charles Roe'.

This will cover Charles Roe's influence on Macclesfield and elsewhere, as well as his determination to build Christ Church.

Tuesday (20/05)

Charity Quiz Night

Looking ahead to next week, The Ivy Leaf are putting on a charity quiz night.

Hosted by Gary Henshaw, the quiz gets underway from 7pm.

Teams of up to four are invited to compete with all proceeds going to One Project Macclesfield.

There will also be a raffle taking place on the night.
