A dementia specialist care operator has been described as 'truly inspiring'.

Belong Macclesfield has been accredited the Quality Hallmark Award, demonstrating the highest standards and best practice in end-of-life care for its customers.   

In particular, the Kennedy Avenue care village was praised by assessors, Gold Standards Framework (GSF), for its 'village living' model. 

Rebecca Woodcock, Belong chief operating officer, said: "We understand the subject of death is a difficult one, for oneself and when thinking about our loved ones.

"But it's imperative to recognise the importance of supporting people to experience a good, dignified death that meets their wishes.  

"This starts with collaboration between the resident, their family, and our carers, underpinned by leading clinical expertise and care that prepares well for end-of-life.   

"We are therefore pleased for Belong Macclesfield to be reaccredited with a GSF Quality Hallmark Award, which serves as testament to the hard work and dedication of our team who have perhaps one of the most challenging but rewarding of jobs."

GSF stated that Belong's village living model was conducive to helping to promote the independence of older people as much as possible. 

They also highlighted the personalised end-of-life care plans and extensive physical and emotional support offered to residents and their families.

 Assessors drew attention to a relative of a Belong Macclesfield resident for sharing 'how happy she was with the compassion and attention to detail from staff'.

Julie Armstrong-Wilson, chief operating officer for GSF, said: "The quality of care and the compassionate cultures we have seen is truly inspiring, reflecting a deep commitment to ensuring people receive the right care at the right time, making a real difference to them and their families. 

"Supporting our ageing population to live and die well is so important, our award winners are leading the way in demonstrating what good end-of-life care looks like."
