A young entrepreneur has started his own car valeting business in Macclesfield.

15-year-old Roman Clowes first began cleaning cars after learning to use his dad's jet washer, now he has turned it into a source of income.

His business venture, called MSR Valeting, is an affordable mobile valeting and detailing service for the people of Macclesfield.

Customers can choose from a variety of packages, which includes things like cleaning car interiors, road tar removal, film removal and other services.

Roman was inspired to start his business from his passion for cars.

His dad, Mark Clowes, said: "He's got a real passion for cars. He loves to see a car done, whereas if you go to a hand car washer they're not bothered".

"He will take his time and do a really good job".

Unlike big corporate businesses, Roman says that it is not all about the profit and he takes his time with the cars ensuring that he does the job properly.

"Standard car washers don't go as much into detail as a 'valeter' and detailer would," said Roman.

"I slow my process down, go over the car two or three times before I leave, making sure I haven't missed anything, and if I have missed anything I go over it again".

Roman, who is homeschooled, is grateful for the support of the Macclesfield community.

It is early days, but so far Roman has made a real go of it.

His dedication and effort so far has a base of loyal customers, and he has been handing out business cards (helped by the fact his dad works in printing).

He offers a mini valet, which he spends an hour on, including a full exterior clean, a hoover and a wipe down.

Roman enjoys the perks of being his own boss and loves that he can choose when he wants to work and is very much focused on the customer.

Roman was keen to emphasise that being the sole employee, means a better customer service as he is his own brand.

He would like to thank his customers who have helped him get his business off the ground and looks forward to working with these people in the future and continuing what he is doing.

"Thank you for all the support so far," he concluded.

He has plans to grow his business and aspires to go professional and industrial. He hopes to start taking on commercial clients soon.

His dad, Mark, is amazingly proud of Roman and is impressed by his work ethic.

"A lot of the business that Roman gets is through word of mouth," said Mark.

"And he has already established loyal customers who can vouch for him."

According to IBIS World, there are 22,570 car wash and motor vehicle detailing businesses in the UK as of 2023.
