A wedding accessory designer from Macclesfield, for 'free-spirited, festival-hearted brides', is celebrating her ten year anniversary.

Heidi Reid has been creating bespoke wedding accessories such as crowns and hair vines in our town for the entirety of her business.

"It really doesn't seem like five minutes ago that I set Glorious By Heidi up," said Heidi reminiscing on her last decade.

Glorious By Heidi was initially created as a part-time hobby at her kitchen table while she was working as a local radio presenter.

She then managed to move into a shared creative space in The Old Sunday School in 2013, followed by another space in The Silk Museum and then finally, during lockdown in 2020, she took up a permanent private studio in The Old Sunday School where she could really concentrate on growing her business.

Since starting up, she has experienced eight years of very active business and two years - due to the pandemic - of online sales and planning the business' future.

This year, however, is looking to be her busiest yet, with the 'Harley Crown' as her most popular item, amongst her other handcrafted tiaras, hair vines, and other accessories.

She explained how the majority of her customers tend to be brides, wanting pieces to express their individual styles on their big day.

"Growing up going to music festivals and embracing my first Glastonbury Festival at aged just seven years old, I fell in love with the freedom to express yourself unhindered by the restrictions of day to day life that festivals give to people," added Heidi,

"There is an incredible network of small creative independent businesses in Macclesfield. And I love being a part of it."

Retaining a presence in lots of her customers' lives, post wedding day, is one of the things which makes her business so special.

Heidi values the personal connections created through her making of accessories for clients, and considers many of them as friends.
