The latest COVID-19 numbers in Macclesfield as restrictions lift
Macclesfield: It is that time of the week again, where we break down the COVID-19 figures in our town.
These are all supplied via GOV.UK, and include the latest cases, jabs and sadly those who have passed from the virus in the last few days.
The latest numbers will start to show the impact of the PM removing the requirement of facemasks indoor spaces.
And we start with the latest COVID-19 positive tests in Macclesfield.

This is a fall of 90 cases in just six days - when there was 754 cases recorded on January 13. But we are nowhere near where we were before Christmas, and figures have not gone to pre-Omicron levels For example, two weeks into Omicron being identified, there were just over 500 confirmed cases on December 15, with an estimated 529 cases in the Macclesfield area. We currently have 754. However, figures are set to align with national trends and continue to fall in the coming days. Vaccination-wise, the figures for Central Macclesfield (the lowest uptake in town) as of January 23 is as follows: 1st dose - 83.9% (of people aged 12 and over)2nd dose - 78.7%
Booster or 3rd dose - 61.1% Across the hospitals which are managed by East Cheshire NHS Trust, five people with coronavirus went into hospital on 16 January 2022. Between 10 January 2022 and 16 January 2022, 59 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 20.4% compared to the previous seven days. There were 54 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 18 January 2022. Zero are on a ventilator in Macclesfield, or across Cheshire East. There were no deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on Monday 24 January 2022. However, Between 18 January 2022 and 24 January 2022, there have been 22 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 83.3% compared to the previous seven days.
