Here's why Costa Coffee in the centre of Macclesfield is shut.

Residents of Macclesfield were surprised to see their Market Place cafés closed this morning.

And the hot drinks specialists are closed for the foreseeable future, with no target date in sight. This is due to a plumbing issue.

The coffee chain were approached for comment by Macclesfield Nub News.

A Costa Coffee spokesperson, said: "We can confirm that the Costa Coffee store on 23 Market Place, Macclesfield is temporarily closed due to an external issue that's limiting the water supply to the store. "

"We apologise for any inconvenience the store closure may cause and invite customers to pick-up their favourite Costa coffee from nearby stores including the Tesco on Hibel Road or via one of our Costa Express machines while we try to resolve the issue as quickly as possible."

Costa Express machines in Macclesfield include those at Broken Cross Tesco.

However, this may be an opportunity for coffee lovers to try our amazing independent coffee businesses in Macclesfield.

For example, two new coffee shops have opened in Macclesfield in recent months.

Yas Bean opened on 219 Buxton Road in August, and have a great selection of milky and vegan coffees. (Which you can read more about here).

Meanwhile, Proper Sound is the most unique coffee seller in Macclesfield, with customers invited to drink in the scenery of their record and clothing store, alongside their quality coffee. They're on 8 Chestergate (and you can read more about them here).

The latter of which is located just a one minute way away from the affected Costa Coffee.

Both use local bean suppliers, and support the local economy as the money you spend will remain in our town.
