Macclesfield rock band The Virginmarys has released a new single, with their upcoming Macclesfield gig set to be a sellout.

The band, comprising Macclesfield residents Ally Dickaty and Danny Dolan, are set to release their first album since the returned to being a duo.

And to kickstart the album cycle, their new song Northwest Coast has been released.

The song boasts loud instrumentals and a catchy symphony with a duet of a ferociousness drum and a fierce guitar. The song is the first single to feature in their upcoming album The House Beyond the Fires.

The band formed in 2006 as a trio who were awarded the Editor's Choice award by iTunes following their raucous song Bang Bang Bang.

Fast-forward to 2024, their upcoming hometown show in Macclesfield at Cinemac Live has sold out, with a huge UK tour to follow. Their Macclesfield gig will serve as a launch for the new album.

Frontman Ally states, "Northwest Coast is the first single to be released from the album, it's a perfect glimpse of all that's to come. It starts with one of the best riffs I've written, and the groove works incredibly."

"The track fuses different genres and is a little 'tongue in cheek' lyrically, repping the gritty realness and beauty of the northwest of England."

The new track (and album) is produced by Dave Draper.

It was mixed and mastered by Swede Karl Daniel Lidén, and continues The Virginmarys' history with the Scandinavian nation.

Macclesfield musician Joel Gardner also shot the music video for Northwest Coast. You can watch it by clicking the 'play' button at the top of this article.

"We have always been renowned for the power and energy of our live performances and strived to recreate that intensity through the production and mix of the records," Ally continued.

"I feel like we've really turned a corner with this album."

"This album is a tribute to Danny's Dad, Tommy Dolan, who passed away last year. It's difficult to articulate how much he meant to us and how deep the grief runs within all who loved him. The LP is a direct reference to his notorious shop, The House of Fires; it felt fitting to make a direct reference to his love, support and influence in the album title."

Northwest Coast follows the 2023 single WHERE ARE YOU NOW?, which itself was coming off the back of the Devil Keeps Coming EP in 2022.

The new album will release on November 1, with their Macclesfield gig set for the day after.

"This will also be the first album released in becoming a two-piece," Ally also said.

"We have grown a lot in the last few years by tuning into our creative synergy and transposing it into our most impactful work to date."

The new album will you on an all-encompassing journey with more VM earworms than ever before, from the stunningly powerful Lights Go Down to the meaningful Dance To The City which revists the Manchester music scene of old, the cliques, the gatekeepers and the struggles of a modern band, while also being a song of reflection for Tommy Dolan who was a big part of the Manchester scene.

Another track from The House Beyond The Fires, called White Knuckle Riding is a deeper track that takes on the daily struggles with mental health, perhaps alluding to the Blackpool Pleasure Beach-esque themes in Northwest Coast.

Upcoming album track There Ain't No Future hits you with the funk and builds up into an angry 'in your face' chorus giving us that raw energy we have come to expect from the Macclesfield duo.

You can pre-order the new LP by the VMs on THIS LINK.

They have over 30,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and 3000 subscribers on YouTube.

Their last album Northern Sun Sessions was released in 2018.
