Two arrested as cocaine and cash seized following police stop check in Prestbury

Drugs and cash were seized following a proactive police stop check in Prestbury.
A 58-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, both from Macclesfield, have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
It comes after officers from Macclesfield Local Policing Unit on patrol in Prestbury stopped a silver Volkswagen Tiguan on Shirleys Drive at around 3.15pm on Monday, January 19.
Upon approaching the vehicle officers spotted drugs paraphernalia in the footwell and the occupants of the car were both arrested.
During a search of the vehicle, a quantity of cocaine was recovered.
Following the discovery, officers conducted search warrants at the homes of the two suspects in Macclesfield, where approximately £40,000 cash was recovered along with more class A drugs.
Sgt Claudia Bolton, of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, said: "This investigation is in the early stages; however, I am sure that this provide reassurance for residents in the area and the wider community.
"I also hope that it acts as a warning to other offenders who are thinking about using the Cheshire road network to commit crime."
As of 1pm on Tuesday, January 20, the two suspects remain in police custody.
