Two of Macclesfield's most iconic buildings feature in a new BBC drama.

Eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted some familiar locations when watching the BBC's new six-part rom-com, Film Club.

Arighi Bianchi and Picturedrome both make appearances in the show, which stars Suranne Jones, Sex Education's Aimee Lou Wood and award-winning Adolescence actor, Owen Cooper.

Episode three sees the family-run furniture store, which has been a Macclesfield landmark for over 170 years, takes centre, with key scenes filmed in the bed department and Caffè AB.

Sarah Bianchi, Arighi Bianchi CEO, said: "It was such an exciting experience to see our store transformed into a film set!

"The crew loved the look and feel of Arighi Bianchi - they told us it had a real warmth and authenticity that made it perfect for the scenes they wanted to shoot.

"The whole team were brilliant to work with and it's fantastic to see our store so recognisably featured on national TV."

The Arighi site was chosen by the BBC's location team for its distinctive character, architectural charm and unique interior.

Staff watched on as the store was transformed into a working film set.

The production team re-dressed the store – including creating bespoke sale signage – while keeping Arighi Bianchi's instantly recognisable façade.

Even Caffè AB and east entrance car park make cameo appearances, complete with one of the store's branded vans in shot.

In one memorable moment, Suranne Jones' character, Suz, picks up one of Arighi Bianchi's own brand candles, inhales deeply and says, 'Winter nights' - a fitting nod to the store's mauch-loved signature scent.

Later in the episode, Josh (played by Adam Long) is seen browsing Arighi Bianchi's Lily bedroom range, choosing a stylish chest of drawers to purchase.

Sarah added: "We've always been proud to be part of Macclesfield's creative community

"And it's brilliant that the BBC team saw the same character and personality in Arighi Bianchi that our customers see every day."

Picturedrome, the cinema-turned-foodhall on Chestergate, makes a brief but notable appearance in the final episode of the series.

Film Club was released on Tuesday, October 7, and is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
