A Ukrainian family is on a mission to reunite with their daughter living near Macclesfield.

Karina Diakova, 21, is currently living in Wincle with a host family, having moved here from the war-torn country six months ago.

Now, with their hometown becoming increasingly unsafe, Karina's mother, Alona, and 10-year-old brother Artem, are looking to join her.

"Unfortunately, our town has recently been under attack again from missiles/drones and it has become very dangerous to stay here," said Alona, 48.

"Explosions can be heard during the day and night. Because of this my son and I are now looking for a safe place to stay.

"We are a calm, friendly and respectful family and we would be very pleased if we could find a safe and welcoming place to stay."

Currently, Alona lives in the small town of Apostolove with her husband and their son, Artem.

Apostolove lies between Kryvi Rih and Nikpolo – around 30 miles from the front line.

Alona said: "At the beginning of the war Russian troops were only about 10km from our town.

"Because of this, we decided to flee to Poland where we stayed for a year.

"Later, due to a family bereavement, and because the situation in our region became calmer, my son and I returned home.

"However, recently the situation has become very dangerous and scary again, particularly for my son."

Karina has been living in Wincle, near Macclesfield, with Alison Weston.

Unfortunately, Alison is unable to accommodate the rest of her family but is urging anyone who can to get in touch.

She said: "I am trying to find a Macclesfield area host who can take in Alona and Artem to save them from the daily bombardment they are facing in Apostolove.

"Unfortunately, I don't have enough space here to accommodate them but if our house was bigger, I would not hesitate!

"Karina is a polite girl who has clearly been brought up well by her parents and I would wholeheartedly recommend this family as a deserving and pleasant family to host."
