Village community relaunches local pub after taking control

A village community have celebrated taking control of their local pub.
The St Dunstan's Inn in Langley was officially relaunched at the end of April, marking a new era as it becomes community-owned.
This comes almost exactly one year after residents started a campaign to save the pub, with the previous owners having announced plans to relocate and being unable to find a buyer.
In response, a dedicated group of volunteers formed a community benefit society with the aim of purchasing the pub on behalf of the community.
Following months of sustained effort, fundraising and organisation supported by the generous backing of a local investor, the group successfully acquired both the pub and its business operations.
Alison Archer from the Save the St Dunstan campaign said: "The relaunch event on Saturday (April 25) brought the community together in celebration, featuring cocktails, a buffet and karaoke entertainment.
"Local councillor Chris O'Leary was in attendance, serving Macclesfield-themed cocktails to a packed and enthusiastic crowd. The evening concluded with karaoke performances, showcasing a range of local talent.
"The successful transition of the St Dunstan Inn into community ownership highlights the strength of local collaboration and determination, ensuring that the pub will continue to serve as a valued social hub for years to come."
