Macclesfield: A Paralympic swimmer raised in Bollington has won two medals at Tokyo 2020.

He won his first bronze in the S12 100m backstroke race with a time of 1:01.27 last week.

You can watch Stephen's S12 100m backstroke bronze above.

Today, he also finished in the top three in the S12 100m freestyle final.

Clegg bagged the bronze in the early hours of this morning.

The 26-year-old Bollingtonian said secured a time of 53.45, in his second medal race.

He said: "I'm really pleased it was a PB and I can't ask for any more than that."

"It's not an event I've worked on much and I was a bit naïve on how I wanted to swim it.

"So coming away with a medal is really exciting and shows I'm in great form for my butterfly."

Stephen will enter the pool again on Friday morning for the S12 100m butterfly heats, where he can hope to go for gold or silver.

It is the fourth career medal for the Happy Valley para-athlete now based in Scotland.

He joins his Paralympic sprinter sister Libby, by being a Paralympic-winning Bollingtonian.

Stephen made his Paralympic debut at the Rio 2016 Games, he reached three finals but did not win a medal.

His coaches in Japan include Lauren Jocelyn, a Bollington teacher who works for King's School Macclesfield in Prestbury.

Macclesfield tennis player Antony Cotterill could win a medal in wheelchair tennis doubles tomorrow. You can learn more about him Athlete here.
