There's only a couple of weeks to go until long evenings and sunny weather, but what can you get up to in Macclesfield this weekend?

Of course there is the Treacle Market on Sunday, which we will preview in an upcoming article, but here is some other events happening in Macclesfield over the next few days.

DON'T FORGET: You can promote your Macclesfield event FOR FREE by nubbing it to our What's On section.

  1. Disney Quiz - TONIGHT

A Thursday pub quiz is a great way to kickstart the weekend, testing your brain whilst having a little bit of socialising as well.

Considering it is a chained pub, Macclesfield's Park Green Wetherspoons The Society Rooms isn't one you'd normally associate with a pub quiz.

However, on Thursday evening they will be hosting a pub quiz night for all things Disney. It is £1 per person entry, with a Disney prize hamper at stake.

Funds will go towards London charity Young Lives vs Cancer.

  1. Battle of the Bands

Back Wallgate venue Mash Guru will be hosting a leg of their Battle of the Bands competition.

It will be a play-off tie to win a support slot with Peter Hook & the Light at Macclesfield's Christ Church Party in the Pews Festival.

The bands are Hollows, The Cinema Show, and Macclesfield band The Perps, the latter of which are about to release a new single.

Entry is free but donations to The Christie Macclesfield are appreciated!

  1. Karaoke Night

Recently nubbed to our Macclesfield What's On section, where you can promote YOUR Macc event for FREE. Friday will see a karaoke night in Tytherington.

The Brocklehurst Arms will close at 12 midnight, so there is plenty of time to belt out your favourite tune.

Our Editor can belt out a bit of ABBA... what is your karaoke tune?

  1. The Treacle Tap

Also on Friday, if you're after some music but don't fancy a starring role, The Treacle Tap will have live blues.

The business spent most of the pandemic shut, and has only recently returned live music in the cosy little Sunderland Street bar.

Live music from Treacle Tap favourites Pickford Street Blues!

Named after the street just around the corner, Pickford Street Blues are a local guitar and harmonica duo playing a mix of folly blues from the likes of Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, Big Bill Broonzy, Little Walter and Junior Wells amongst others.

The performance will start from 8pm. Free entry. And there will be The Treacle Tap's usual selection of quality, CAMRA-approved drinks.

And that is our round-up of the best things to do in town this weekend?
