The Bank Holiday weekend Treacle Market is one of the most popular of the year, right up their with the pre-Christmas ones.

So Macclesfield Nub News thought we'd take a deep dive with organisers Andy and Becky Thompson to find out what is new at the Treacle Market this Bank Holiday weekend.

"A big new addition this month is the free dog portraits at the Old Butter Market", said Becky.

"Rolph and Co [who have a studio on Back Wallgate] will be in the Old Butter Market taking photos of dogs. Just remember to bring dogs on short leads.

"Just outside, we will have our mobile barber Jimmyscissors offering back to school haircuts. He was on holiday last month so he's making a big return.

"To highlight on the food side is Feastable, who are amazing caterers that will be on Market Place, they were here last month but they may be new to many Treaclers as many people were on holiday last month.

"And for dessert cookie dough experts Dough on Chestergate will be a highlight, as well as the usual favourites. Brewbox will be the mobile bar.

"Music-wise Annie's Saints and Sinners will continue their hot streak of performances, and MADS Theatre will be performing a setlist of Little Shop of Horrors songs, and hoping to sell a few tickets for their upcoming performance of the musical.

"Macc Music Centre kids will be performing too and then the mighty Kirk McElhinney will be playing once more.

"We'll also have the return of a Treacle tradition to announce next month as well."

The Treacle Market is on from 10:00pm-3:30pm on Sunday August 28.
