What's on in Macclesfield the first weekend of 2025 - Theatre class, wedding fair and more
What's on in Macclesfield is brought to you by our sponsors, Wincle Beer and The Ship Inn.
If you're anything like me, you'll have spent the past week or so sat inside watching movies and eating leftovers.
But 2025 has now arrived and so I think it's time to get off the sofa.
Here's a round-up of what's going on in and around Macclesfield this weekend.
Remember you can advertise your event for free on our What's On section.
Saturday - Musical Theatre Open Day
Footlights Macclesfield are hosting an open day this Saturday, January 4.
Suitable for children age three to 18, the award-winning theatre school rehearse every Saturday at All Hallows Catholic College.
"Classes are fun, upbeat and inclusive delivered by a skilled and caring team of DBS checked professionals," said a spokesperson.
You can reserve your place for the open day by emailing [email protected] or calling 07507 742003.
Sunday - Wedding Fair
There will no doubt have been a few engagements over the festive period.
Well what better way to start planning than by attending the Winter Wedding Fair at Shrigley Hall on Sunday, January 5.
Attendees will be able to take a look around the Georgian country house hotel, meet a number of wedding suppliers and discuss special packages and promotions.
The event, which runs from 11am to 3pm, is free to attend.
Sunday - Relaxed visits to Jodrell Bank
A visit to Jodrell Bank is the perfect way to kick-off the new year.
On the first Sunday of every month, from 10am to 11am, the UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a more relaxed experience.
Sound in exhibition spaces will be at a reduced level and there'll be a relaxed early showing of the free film 'Introduction to Jodrell Bank' at 10.15am.
Visitors are asked to only book for this session if visiting with someone that will benefit from this provision.
All month - Pints with Purpose
The White Lion is starting 2025 with a huge charity fundraiser.
Each week a different cause will take centre spotlight.
First up, is Macclesfield District General Hospital.
The Mill Street pub is asking punters to bring in donations of toys to help bring smiles to children on the A&E ward.
Week one runs until Monday, January 5.
More information about the campaign, Pints for Purpose, can be found here.
