Walk the Bollin

While it may sound like an indie rock band 'Walk the Bollin' is actually a very serious event.

Following last month's pollution of an unknown acidic substance in the River Bollin, campaigners and the public have raised concerns over the health of Macclesfield's river.

And this Saturday from 11am, a litter pick and walk which shows the beauty of the river will take place, while also highlighting for better protection of the health of the river.

80s Festival

As spring is about to begin, and a warm-ish weekend ahead, why not get outside and attend an unofficial event for fans of a summer Macclesfield music festival.

A Kick Up the 80s is a mini 1980s music festival as an unofficial precursor to Rewind Festival in the summer, for fans of the same type of tunes.

It will take place at Macclesfield Rugby Club.

Originally intended as a reunion for those 80s fans who go each August to Capesthorne Hall's Rewind North Festival but now thrown open to any local 80s fans, this promises to be a great night of neon and leg warmers including an 80s disco, 80s tribute band and the chance to win some great 80s signed merchandise

Turn up for 7pm, for this Priory Lane music event. Tickets HERE.

History Walk

The Silk museum is located on old Park Lane.

Also on Saturday 18th March, there is a guided walk of a women's history of Macclesfield.

Join Tina for a guided walk around the streets of Macclesfield where she will tell you how it got the name of 'Women's town'.

During the walk she will tell you about a number of wonderful local women and share their tales with you.

Ages 16+. Tickets = £12. Get them HERE.

Crucial Game for The Silkmen

We don't always post Macclesfield games to our weekend round-up, as they don't normally need promotion as one of Macclesfield's biggest brands.

But this weekend the Silks need your support more than ever, with just seven games to go of what could be another successful season.

A mouth-watering home tie against Cheshire rivals Runcorn Linnets will play a pivotal part in their promotion push.

A victory could see them go 13 points clear of second-placed Leek Town. Saturday 3pm.
