Woman rescued from house fire in Macclesfield

By James Kelly 29th Dec 2020

Firefighters have rescued a woman from a house fire close to Macclesfield town centre this morning.

Three fire engines were sent out to the incident on Bridge Street at 6:13am to put out the fire on the ground floor of the terraced house.

The woman was rescued from the upstairs bedroom by firefighters using a ladder.

A spokesperson for the Cheshire Fire Service said: "Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a main jet and a hose reel jet put out the fire. They then used a large fan to disperse smoke. Crews continue to damp down the area and check for any fire spread."

The cause of the fire is being investigated and the number of fire engines has been reduced to one, according to the latest update.
