Bollington Town FC establishes new development side and appeals for coaches
A new sub team of a local grassroots football club is seeking coaches to propel them to success.
Bollington Town FC, have launched a new Under 23s side for the new season, called the Bollington Town Development Team.
The new Under 23s Development Team play at the Bollington Recreation Ground, and compete in the Crewe and District League, (unlike Macclesfield Rugby Club for the first team).
But they are missing a guiding light to complete the team.
Declan Hanks is secretary of Bollington Town FC, and told all to Macclesfield Nub News.
"We have started a new development team this season, aged at young adults coming out of Under 18s football and creating a pathway to our first team," he said.
"The new side is aimed at Under 23s. We don't have many played aged between 18-23 in our first team, so the idea is to create that gap to get them into adult football.
"From there, players can get into the first team and help futureproof the club.
"Player-wise we are good for numbers. However, we've been struggling in our efforts to find a volunteer to manage this team.
"We would love to find someone to assist us in this role to help the community and young lads play football.
"We already have a strong squad signed on and are looking for committed coaches and management to join our journey."
Both a manager and coaches are sought for the new side. No qualifications are required, just a love of the game.
There are hopes to get this new team into the Cheshire Football Reserve League, with the help of a prospective new gaffer and/or coaches.
This could come naturally, through promotion through the leagues from the first team, or from the new development squad's own merit.
To get in touch with the club regarding this opportunity, you can find contact details and more information on their website. (Or the poster above).
The long term goal for Bollington Town FC is to get a side in the North West Counties Division, which the first team is currently two promotions away from.
From there, the Reserve teams will get an automatic promotion, should they achieve this goal.
But in the short term, the aforementioned coaching staff for their Development Side is sought.
"We are keen for the Development Coach to be coached by someone who wants to develop their own coaching skills, and potentially get into management for the first team," added Declan.
"The Development Side is sponsored by the Meel Group in Hurdsfield, Bollington Festival, and Silktown Snooker Club. We couldn't do it without them. Thank you."
Earlier this year, Bollington Town FC entered a partnership with Macclesfield Rugby Club.
