A pool tournament will take place this September for The Christie Macclesfield.

Airport worker Craig Williams, will be hosting a single-elimination pool tourney on Sunday September 18.

Entrants will pay a small fee, with all proceeds going to The Christie Macclesfield.

It will take place at the Broken Cross Club, with Members and Non-Members all welcome to take part.

"Last year my dad was told he had cancer", said Craig.

"So I wanted to fundraise for something to support all of those affected with cancer.

"It is close to my heart. I've also had family and friends who have passed away from cancer.

"I've never done a charity challenge before, this is the first time. I want to raise as much as I can."

"I really hope a lot of people turn up and take part for a good cause."

The tournament will begin shortly after 10:30am on Sunday September 18.

There is no maximum amount of entrants, so if you turn up and pay, you will play.

There will be food and a tombola on the day as well, to raise extra funds for the state-of-the-art cancer treatment centre which opened in Macclesfield last December.

There will also be goody bags to keep the kids busy for any participating mums and dads.

"I'm normally good at pool, but in this season's Summer League, I haven't won any games," added Craig.

"The format is best of three frames, up until the semi-final where there will be five. If you lose, you are eliminated.

"There will be prizes, and we are looking for Macclesfield businesses to consider donating some.

"If you can donate a prize, please give me a message on Facebook."

To enter, all you have to do is visit Broken Cross Club any day until the 18th during their opening hours, and pay £7.

The cash can be left in an envelope behind the bar. Or you can pay on the day, providing you turn up for registration at 10:30am, however this will cost a little extra.

Paying on the day of the event costs just £10. But this means more money will go to charity.
