First-of-its-kind footgolf tournament kicks off at Adlington Golf Centre
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 14th Apr 2026
Macclesfield is hosting a first-of-its-kind footgolf tournament.
The Adlington Golf Centre Trophy kicked off on Wednesday, April 8.
Designed to encourage beginners and grow the sport, the ten-week series is the first in the country.
Paul Boulton, president of the FootGolf Association of England, said: "Having the national body aligned with venues like Adlington helps give the sport more structure, visibility, and credibility.
"It creates a clear pathway for players, supports competition standards, and shows that FootGolf is continuing to grow in a professional and sustainable way.
"Macclesfield and Adlington felt like the right place to host the first series because of the facilities, the local support, and the appetite for FootGolf in the area.
"We've got a strong base here and a venue that really lends itself to the format."

Adlington Golf Centre Trophy events will take place every other Wednesday until September 23, with a seven-week break over the summer.
The series will consist of six categories, from senior men to junior under-18s.
Macclesfield resident and England footgolf international Tom Stott said: "We had a great turnout for the first ever Adlington Trophy Fixture.
"Having a brand new leisurely FootGolf league in Cheshire, enables anybody to come along and give competitive FootGolf a try for the first time."
Tom won the first session, scoring two hole-in-ones.
Fellow England international Kyle Brown also hit a hole-in-one.
The entry fee for the event is £20 for adults and £15 for children, with the sessions running on Wednesday evenings.
