Strong weekend for Macclesfield Cricket Club as all teams impress

Macclesfield Cricket Club enjoyed a hugely successful weekend.
Impressive displays from all of the club's senior teams saw them win six out of seven matches.
Highlights include a winning start to the season for the Women's team, along with another victory for the Men's First XI.
First XI maintain perfect home record
The First XI made it two home wins from two with a commanding six-wicket victory over Grappenhall.
The visitors struggled to capitalise on a good batting surface, managing just 164 all out.
Fin Nash set the tone with a brilliant spell of 3 for 9 from seven overs, while captain Jack Massey continued his fine form with another four-wicket haul.
In the field, Andrew "Poppa" Poppa took three excellent catches to keep the pressure on.
Massey also starred with the bat, hitting a quickfire 32 to get the chase off to a flying start.
Steady contributions from Jimmy Longhorn (20), John Birchall (36), and an unbeaten 45 from Poppa sealed a comfortable victory.
Second XI dominate in Grappenhall
The Second XI were equally impressive on the road.
After reducing Grappenhall from 46-1 to 86-9, thanks mainly to debutant Austin Ventre with 5 for 31 in a superb 10-over spell.
Ben Curwen backed him up with a miserly 2 for 19 from 13 overs. Despite a late-order partnership, Grappenhall posted just 115.
Eddie Bones led the reply with a blistering 49* off 40 balls, sharing a match-winning 63-run stand with Jacob Tidswell (18*) to secure a seven-wicket win in just 21 overs.

A strong start from Chris Moores and Ian Kenny (81-run opening stand) laid the platform before skipper Mudasser Panchbhaya anchored the chase with an unbeaten 40 off 32 balls, seeing Macc home with three overs to spare.
Fourth XI off the mark for 2025
The Fourth XI claimed their first win of the season with a 69-run victory over Heaton Mersey Village. Batting first, Macc reached 181-7, thanks to a solid 54 from Rana Asghar.
Other notable contributions were 40 from Charlie Ackerley, and a late 19 off just nine balls from Bruno Smith-Lomas.
In response, Heaton Mersey never threatened the target and were bowled out for 112, with Smith-Lomas and Harry Martin taking three wickets apiece.
Fifth XI show fight against Lindow
After a tough opener, the Fifth XI put in a much more competitive display against Lindow. Despite the visitors posting a formidable 219-5 (Muhammad Ali picking up 3 wickets), Macc gave it a good go with the bat, finishing on 191-7.
Vibal Michael (52) and Dylan Howell (36) were the standout performers in a spirited effort.
