The winner of the Nub News and Co-op pumpkin carving competition has been announced.

South Macclesfield resident Ruth Brown and her children Eleanor and Olivia Stallman, ages 10 and 5, have won the contest.

They went all out carving three pumpkins, including a pumpkin cat and mouse chase, with a nervous looking mouse below a cat at the top of the stairs.

Proud mum Ruth and her kids will receive a Co-op hamper full of treats.

"Eleanor and Olivia are really happy that their pumpkins were picked and very excited to receive their prize.

"We spent a whole morning in the half-term just choosing designs, and about two hours actually carving, mostly scooping seeds out!"

Don't throw away the inside of your pumpkin – you can use it to make a delicious soup! Try this quick, easy recipe from the Co-op: Pumpkin soup — Co-op (coop.co.uk) for a heart-warming autumnal meal.
