Barnaby Festival is set to return to Macclesfield this June, after COVID-19 has denied its possibility for the last 3 years.

While there was a scaled-back Barnaby Bright event last year, the well-loved parade will return for 2022.

This large community event is set to return from June 17 to June 19 as part of a three-day weekend festival programme.

However, the festivals trustees are still looking for a Parade Coordinator to organise the Barnaby parade that is going to be taking place on Saturday the June 18.

This role will include working closely with community members and the festival trustees in order to deliver a safe and memorable parade for all.

Applications for this role close on the January 23. The link to all the information needed can be found here.

The last time the festival was allowed to happen in person was back in 2018, where over 600 people were in attendance to watch 'the spectacle of costume, colour and creativity'.

The festival dates back to the 13th century, but more recently became an annual summer tradition in Macclesfield in 2010.

It was reinvented after Macclesfield was dubbed 'the least cultured place in Britain' by The Telegraph, and now has helped prove that Macc is a vibrant network of artists and creativity.

Even though we have not been able to celebrate properly the last 3 years, lets hope the 2022 festival can go above and beyond expectation.

More details of the event will be released as plans develop, with hope that many festival favourites will be able to feature throughout the weekend.
