Padel is a rapidly growing sport. The Mexican racquet sport, often dubbed as 'the next pickleball', is even taking the local area by storm.
As well as the recently-owned padel courts at Mottram Hall that opened last month, there is also another new padel facility near Macclesfield, being Alderley Park.
Everybody Health and Leisure, which operates Macclesfield Leisure Centre as well as sporting facilities at Alderley Park, is behind the new padel court at the innovative science and tech site.
Retrospective planning was approved for the courts last month, which already exist, and the new padel courts will celebrate their one-year anniversary next month.
Two tennis courts have been converted into three new padel courts, as part of the changes. This was due to a reduction in interest in tennis bookings.
The all-ages sport has been brought to Alderley Park by Everybody, in partnership with Pure Padel and Bruntwood.
The new Alderley Park padel courts, which has employed four coaches trained in Spain, can be booked online.
Everybody Health and Leisure said: "Accessibility to the sport in the Cheshire East region has been severely lacking, until now.
"Playing padel provides numerous health benefits that people forget admist all the fun."
"Padel tennis, a dynamic and fast-paced sport, combines elements of traditional tennis and squash. Padel offers a unique experience that's both fun and engaging.
"Padel tennis is typically played in pairs, on a smaller court enclosed by walls and a glass panel, making it a social and strategic game.
"It improves cardiovascular fitness, helps to build strength and endurance, enhances co-ordination and promotes overall physical and mental well-being. Not to mention, it's a fantastic way to burn calories.
"Making this sport available at Alderley Park is just one-way Everybody Health & Leisure continue to provide cutting-edge fitness opportunities for the local community.
"So why not give yourself an opportunity to try a new sport this summer?"
To book the courts, you need to download the 'playtomic' app, which can be downloaded on this link.
You don't have to be a member of Everybody Alderley Park to take part, but you will get extra benefits if you are.
