Excitement building as return of Macclesfield's biggest original music festival nears
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 22nd Apr 2026
Macclesfield's biggest original live music festival is just one month away.
Choose Macc will be back on Saturday, May 23, for the second-ever Macclesfield in May.
Taking over Market Place from 11am to 10.30pm, the event will see the chart-topping Boo Radleys take to the stage, joined by the likes of Badly Drawn Boy and Fever Dream.
Organiser Jo Lowes said: "Being able to put on Macc's biggest original music festival is genuinely an honour and to be able to make it free to attend due to sponsors, traders and council funding makes it even more amazing.
"I'm a huge music fan and have always been a massive fan of Badly Drawn Boy and can't wait to have him playing live in Macclesfield again for the whole town to enjoy.
"It will also be the Boo Radleys first time playing Macclesfield which will be really special.
"I'm especially excited for Fever Dream. We had lead singer Stars' previous band, Bang Bang Romeo, on at Party in the Pews and they just blew everyone away, so Macclesfield will love Fever Dream."

Maclesfield in May 2026 set times
Bolton-born singer/songwriter Damon Gough, AKA Badly Drawn Boy, will headline this year's Macclesfield in May festival.
Recognised by his signature tea cosy hats, Damon began his career after meeting DJ Andy Votel, launching the independent record label Twisted Nerve and releasing a number of well-received EPs in the late 1990s.
He would follow these up with his debut album in 2000, The Hour of Bewilderbeast, which won the Mercury Music Prize.
Off the back of this success, he recorded the soundtrack for the 2002 hit film About a Boy, starring Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult.
Also taking to the stage on May 23 will be Naomi Kalu, The 99 Degree, WeatheredMan & the Noise, Lazy Bones, Locus from the Falibroome Academy and, all the way from Memphis, David Brookings and the Average Lookings.
Below you will find the set times for this year's Macclesfield in May.

What else is there?
The festival will again be using reusable cups which can be purchased at the pop-up bars in Market Place run by RedWillow Brewery and Bollington Brewery as well as the addition of Macclesfield's very own brewed cider, SiDa.
The festival also has a pre-party taking place at MASH on Friday, May 22, with David Brookings supporting Mora and the Fabolous Wonderfuls, featuring the legendary George Borowski.
Straight after the festival there will be a VIP after party of Madchester hits at Cinemac with Inspiral Carpets keyboardist and DJ, Clint Boon.
Tickets for the after party are available online here.
The bank holiday weekend will be finished off in style with Choose Macc's Hangover Mixtape outside RedWillow and The Fountain on Park Green from 2pm on Sunday, May 24.
