Arrest made as 21-year-old woman from Macclesfield killed in crash

A Macclesfield woman has died following a crash in Nether Alderley.
Emergency services were called to reports of a crash involving a black Mazda at the Alderley Roundabout on the A34 Melrose Way at around 1am on Friday, October 9.
Upon arrival, officers found the driver had fled the scene, leaving three passengers inside the vehicle.
Despite the best efforts of all those involved, one of the rear seat passengers, a 21-year-old woman from Macclesfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The two remaining passengers, a 34-year-old woman from Macclesfield and a 36-year-old man from Macclesfield, were both taken to hospital.
A 36-year-old man from Macclesfield was subsequently arrested nearby on suspicion of causing a death by dangerous driving.
Investigations are underway and police are keen to hear from anyone who may have information.
Detective Sergeant Russ Sime of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "This is a tragic incident in which a young woman has sadly lost her life and our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.
"Enquiries In relation to the cause of the collision are ongoing and one man is currently being held in police custody.
"The A34 is a busy road, and as part of our investigation, we're keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident, or anyone with any dashcam footage of the collision.
"We're also keen to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen the vehicle involved, a black Mazda, in the run-up to the incident.
"The vehicle is believed to have been travelling on the A34 from Wilmslow towards Monks Heath.
