It's business as usual as a Macclesfield pub hits the market.

The Blacksmiths Arms on Chelford Road has appeared for sale on the property website Rightmove.

It comes after Greene King announced a new 'pub estate strategy' which identified around 300 pubs that would be better served under different models.

Roughly half are to be leased and tenanted under the brand's Pub Partners estate with the other half evaluated for a potential sale.

A spokesperson for Greene King said: "As part of our pub estate strategy to set us up to deliver sustainable and profitable growth for the future, we are now exploring all options available to us regarding the future of the Blacksmiths Arms, including a potential sale.

"The pub remains open and trading as usual."

The potential sale of the Blacksmiths Arms follows the closure of two other Greene King pubs in Macclesfield, - the Rising Sun on Congleton Road and the Butley Ash on London Road.

The Rising Sun appeared for sale itself last week, with the listing stating that it 'may suit alternative use'.

However, it is businesess as usual for the time being at the Blacksmiths Arms.

Priced at £850,000, the venue is described as a 'destination foodhouse' with a public bar and an 80 cover dining room.

It also features an 'extensive' beer garden and a car park with around 58 spaces.

The listing reads: "A two-storey detached property with rendered and painted elevations beneath a pitched slate roof. There are single storey lean-to and flat roof additions to the sides and rear.

"To the right hand side is a split level, surfaced and lined car park with c.58 parking spaces.

"To the rear is an extensive beer patio and beer garden, which is laid to lawn. There is a smoking shelter and it is furnished with timber garden furniture, providing a total of c.150 external covers."
