Macclesfield families can enjoy classic movies on the world's largest mobile LED screen this summer thanks to a charity do organised by NSPCC.

Film fans from across the area can experience some cinematic classics in the beautiful surroundings of a stately home this summer, with this brand new charity event for Cheshire.

The Midsummer Drive In Movies – organised by the NSPCC's East Cheshire Special Events team and sponsored by Lidl GB – will be held in the beautiful gardens of Capesthorne Hall across June 11, 12 and 13.

Maxonians will be able to view classics including 1984's Ghostbusters, and modern classics like 2019's Little Women and Peter Rabbit.

Everyone buying a ticket for any screening over the three-day event will receive entry to the grounds of Capesthorne Hall, with proceeds going to the NSPCC.

Movie-goers will be catered for by event sponsors Lidl, with deluxe hot dogs and other cinema favourites available to buy across the weekend.

Visitors who buy these snacks, will also feel great doing it as proceeds from their sale will also go to the national children's charity.

With up to two screenings each day on the iCONIC 100 screen – as used at the Virgin London Marathon, The Diamond Jubilee Concert and a Royal Wedding - there should be something for everyone.

The morning showings are aimed at children and families, with 2018's Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation on Saturday and Peter Rabbit on Sunday.

The evening screenings for this unique Macclesfield cinematic event will include Spider-Man: Far From Home on Friday, Ghostbusters on Saturday and Little Women on Sunday.

Janette Drew, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said: "We are hugely excited about the Midsummer Drive-In Movie event, and incredibly grateful to everyone at Lidl and Capesthorne Hall for their support.

"The last year has been a real challenge for the NSPCC, as so many of our important fundraising events have been postponed or cancelled due to the pandemic.

"Around 90% of funding for all our vital child protection work comes from public donations, so hosting such an amazing event in such a wonderful setting couldn't be more welcome."

Tickets to each drive-in screening cost from £30 per car, with up to five people per vehicle.

VIP tickets are also available, guaranteeing a space in the front three rows – the best in the house – as well as two free deluxe hotdogs and a goody bag.

Capesthorne Hall in Siddington is just over six miles from Macclesfield town centre. It is a 20 minute drive east of Macc.
