A Manchester City legend will be helping a Ukrainian cause in Macclesfield.

Ex-goalkeeper Joe Corrigan (73) will be drawing the winners for an upcoming Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid Collection Point raffle.

Joe Corrigan played almost 500 times for Manchester City from 1967 to 1983. He won three trophies for Manchester City, and played nine times for England.

And on June 30 this month, he will randomly pick generous Macclesfield residents as winners of some amazing prizes, all for our town's aid distribution centre for Ukraine.

Bollington Brewery Co and Dorchester Way country club The Tytherington Club have donated prizes up for grabs.

"We have a raffle to raise money to buy critical medical aid for Ukraine," said volunteer Nicola Regan.

"And the prizes themselves are incredible. Thank you everyone who has donated, and anyone who enters.

Tickets are only £1 each. Books are £5. The draw will take place at a Tytherington pub.

"Tickets can be purchased from us [Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid Collection Point]," added Nicola.

"Please send us a message on Facebook.

The Macclesfield good cause supports Ukrainian refugees and the war effort. They are located on Unit 2C, Sutton Mill, Gunco Lane. Macclesfield. SK11 7JL.

"The draw will take place on Thursday 30th June at 4pm at The Brocklehurst Arms [on 40 Manchester Road]."

Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid Collection Point has delivered almost £300,000 worth of aid to the under-attack Eastern European country.

The centre is ran by volunteers, and was founded by a half-Ukrainian family from Macclesfield.

A family connection led to the former footballer presenting the event.
