A footpath will close for nearly a year as work on a new development continues.

Peaks & Plains has confirmed that the path connecting Ivy Road and Countess Road in Macclesfield will close from March 3.

It comes as the housing trust works together with the Casey Group on a new 29-home development.

The closure, which will remain in place for 11 months, is required due to the deep drainage works taking place underneath the footpath as well as works to the utility infrastructure, new paving and soft landscaping.

Signage to show alternatives will be put in place on Countess Road and Ivy Road.

The site being developed was previously home to bungalows, garages and Ivy House, which was demolished in 2021.

Work on the new development began last November.

When complete, it will feature a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties, 16 of which will be for for social rent and the remaining 13 for shared ownership.
