Four Macclesfield breweries have teamed up to collaborate on a new beer.

RedWillow, Storm Brewery, Bollington Brewing Co (now based in Macclesfield), and Wincle Brewery have come together for a limited edition beer.

The craft beer quartet saw one brewer from each business meet at RedWillow to share ideas on a beer they'd all like to make.

The result is MaccLustre, and the new pale ale has been released to coincide with the launch of Macclesfield Beer week.

Wincle Brewery was one of four local breweries to have input into the new tipple.

The nucleus of the idea was down to RedWillow's Tom Lewis, who spoke with Macclesfield Nub News.

"Macclesfield Beer Week is a celebration of everything beer in Macclesfield - from the breweries to the bar and all of those people who love beer in Macclesfield," said Tom.

"Beer has been and still huge part of Macclesfield and it's history. Although small at the moment, we hope that over the years we can grow this in to the celebration it deserves to be.

"MaccLustre is a beer brewed for this exact celebration. It is a celebration of the thriving local beer scene we have.

"We reached out to Bollington, Wincle and Storm to ask if they wanted to come and brew together, an opportunity that we rarely get as we're all so busy. I'm a big fan of community and this collab was a great way to all get together and learn.

"We all used techniques and ingredients that none of the us would get to use in normal production.

"The beer is a hazy pale, with a good amount of oats to help promote a nice soft mouthfeel.

"MaccLustre is hopped with Simcoe and Idaho 7 in the whirlpool, with a healthy dry hop of HBC 431 & Mosaic for a soft, pineapple, citrus finish.

"The beer is available at a number of different places across the week. RedWillow on Park Green, R&Gs on Market Place, and The Castle on Church Street.

"It'll be at Wincle Beer Festival in July and across plenty of local pubs in the coming weeks!

On this weekend!

"I'm also re-starting Macclesfield Homebrew Club as part of Macclesfield Beer Week. It's something I started back in 2016 when Redwillow Macclesfield first opened and we were lucky enough to have support from local breweries, it's there reason I love what I do and now I'm in a position to give back the way that people helped me back then and continuing to grow the beer community in Macclesfield."

Have you took part in Macclesfield Beer Week?

Grant Leah, brewer at Wincle Brewery was one of the foursome involved in MaccLustre.

"It was great to combine our heads together, and catch up with other brewers in the same industry", he said.

"We all have different methods. We are quite traditional but they have very hi-tech kits.

"We wanted something light, around 4% and easy drinking.

"It definitely opens your mind seeing him another people do things.

"I will be the chief taster of it at Wincle Beer Festival."

Giles Meadows, founder of Wincle Brewery added: "We are always interested in working with our neighbours."

"It is always fascinating to share brewing philosophies.

"We have a history with Tom, as he used to brew with us as well. So we are very pleased to be part of it."

Appropriately, the percentage ABV of the beer is 4.4%, given the theme of four breweries and people involved in the collaboration.
