A charitable Macclesfield rock band will perform their first gig in almost 20 months this weekend.

Macclesfield five-piece Low Orbit, will play their first show since performing at Manchester Academy 2 gig in December 2019.

Their upcoming gig is at Retro Bar in Manchester on Sackville Street.

It is their first big gig since December 14 2019 It was there when they supported Macclesfield hit-rockers The Virginmary's, who we recently revealed were recording new music.

Low Orbit will play on Friday July 30 as part of a two day venue Manchester music festival, as headliners for the Friday night.

Tickets are £7 advance, with a small booking fee. You can secure your Alt-Rock/Punk R-Weekender 2021 tickets here.

Retro Bar shares an address with This Charming Naan, which features Indian food inspired by Manchester band The Smiths.

"We're excited to be one of the headline acts for R- Weekender at Retro Bar this weekend," said the band.

"It is an amazing line-up of Alt Rock and Pop-Punk. Tickets available from Fatsoma.

"This is gonna be a epic gig. We can't wait."

The Macclesfield band will then headline a homecoming show on the Sunday date for Swanload Festival on August 29.

The charity gig at the Chestergate pub The Swan With Two Necks will raise money for Stroke Association UK, and you can read more about it here.

Ticket information will be revealed at a later date for this late night Macclesfield performance.

The band couldn't even meet in person until April 2021, having spent six months apart due to the pandemic.

Since then, they have been rehearsing, writing new music, and raising awareness for mental health charities.

"Over the year's as a group we've put ourselves forward to help many charity events from Make A Wish Foundation to Cancer Research," added the band.

"Earlier this year Martin and Will did a couple of videos to help highlight Mental Health Awareness,

"Continuing in that vain our singer Martin is now helping raise money for Mind by taking part in a White Collar Boxing Match in September this year. His training begins in a couple of weeks and we'll share a few of his posts on his progress.

"If you can donate to this very worthy cause at a time when everyone has been feeling the strain of isolation and lockdown, please do. Even a couple of pounds will make a big difference to someone somewhere.

You can donate to Martin's crowdfunder for the charity Mind on JustGiving here.

Low Orbit's most recent releases were the 2019 EPs Vices and 3rd Time Lucky.
